Pastor Rogan Taylor, a fifth generation “white” African of Scottish & English roots was born in Durban, South Africa in 1958, his forefather having moved from England to the Cape Province of South Africa in 1840. In 1960, when age 2, Pastor Rogan moved with his family to Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). He did all his primary & secondary education in Salisbury (now Harare). He served two years (1977 and 1978) in the British South Africa Police with the Mounted Division. Pastor Rogan trained for pastoral ministry in Johannesburg, South Africa and graduated with a Bachelor in Theology in 1982. He married his wife, Caroline, in 1980.
Pastor Rogan pastored 5 churches, prior to Abbot Evangelical Free Church, in Zimbabwe, New Zealand and Colorado. He has 4 children: Brett (36), and his wife Alix, live in Cape Town, South Africa; Amy (32), and her husband Adam, live in Denver, Colorado; Nicole (29), and her husband James, also live in Denver, and Emma (27), and her husband Josh, live in Paducah, Kentucky. Rogan and Caroline have three young grandchildren: Miles, Adalynn and Nora.
In January 2007, Pastor Rogan moved from Gweru, Zimbabwe to South Fork, Colorado with Caroline and his two youngest daughters where he was a pastor for six years. In February 2014, Pastor Rogan and Caroline moved to Central Maine to become Abbot Evangelical Free Church's pastor. Not only does Pastor Rogan have a passion for pastoral ministry, but is also an enthusiastic watercolor artist. Pastor Rogan and Caroline naturalized as U.S. citizens in September, 2015. “Our desire is to see many in this beautiful part of Central Maine, and beyond, come to a saving knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ, and to see them nurtured, mentored and established in the faith as they submit to Him as King”.
